Somerset cidermakers Thatchers Cider came to us with a brief of “something special” for their dining room extension to the Railway Inn in Sandford, Somerset, South-West UK. We hope we have delivered!
After successfully completing an oak frame for nearby visitor centre, we were contracted to provide a full frame for the dining room extension, as well as a feature oak roof above the bar in the old pub, and an oak-framed porch. The level of craftmanship in the finishing of this project has been incredible, with some great attention to detail. The ornate carvings, the window joinery as well as a sense of history and timelesness that is hard to achieve in what is almost a new building. We’re proud that our oak frame forms an integral part and helps to give the pub a fantastic atmosphere. As a public bar and restaurant, it is well worth visiting to have a look at an example of our work. The fact that the cider and food is outstanding is a bonus! Journeyman carpenter George who was working with us at the time made this aptly cider-themed video of the project including timelapse footage of the raising.
