An Oak–Framed Garage In A Day

After weeks of preparation in the timber framing workshop, the oak frame is ready to be assembled on site. Interestingly, this is normally the first time that the whole oak frame will go together. We fit each mortise and tenon together individually during the manufacturing, but the whole frame is often too big to fit in the framing shed!

The photos in the gallery below show the oak roof for this garage fitted together in the workshop, but not the whole frame. The oak–framed garage featured here was put up near Windsor on the 23rd November 2001 (Click on an image to enlarge it).
